KATE KULZICK

Kate Kulzick

Kate Kulzick, a senior majoring in violin performance at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, just acquired her first major instrument, a violin by Leandro Bisiach, Milan, 1900, and she couldn't be more pleased: "To go from a student instrument to such a great instrument is a joy. It's opened up a whole new world for me in what I could do. Emotion and color and so much more becomes possible." Kulzick is a first-time Bein & Fushi customer. She came to the firm thanks to a recommendation from her teacher Sherban Lupu. Kulzick worked with salesman Alec Fushi on her acquisition. "Alec was great. He really wanted me to find the instrument that was right for me, for my musicality and style. I didn't feel like he was trying to sell me." Kulzick is a member of a piano quintet and is enjoying exploring the chamber repertoire. She's also preparing for her senior recital in the spring. She attended the International Music Academy headed by Stephen Shipps and Pavel Prentl in Pilsen, Czech Republic, for the second time last summer where she studied with Cyrus Forough. Kulzick was awarded free tuition as one of just four prize winners of the Thomas J. Smith Competition at the University of Illinois. WhatÕs next for Kulzick? Graduate school in violin performance.

"Bein & Fushi: I would recommend them to anyone."
