SAE ROM KWON
After searching for over a year, Sae Rom Kwon finally found her ideal cello at Bein & Fushi, an instrument by Charles Plumerel, Angero, 1840. "The cello has a lively sound, fast reaction, very rich bottom strings, and great projection. I just love it," said Kwon. She is currently working toward her DMA in cello performance at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music where she studies with Yehuda Hanani. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees at Eastman. There she was a student of Alan Harris. Kwon joined forces three years ago with two of her fellow Eastman students to form the Shema Trio. After just one year together, the Trio took the top prize at the 2004 Coleman National Chamber Music Competition, piano trio division. And the ensemble has been invited to compete in the prestigious Fischoff Competition in May. Kwon received fellowships to study at the Aspen Music Festival and School in 2002 and 2003. Asked how she heard about Bein & Fushi, the cellist replied, "I heard that Bein & Fushi has a large inventory, and my teacher, Yehuda Hanani, highly recommended it." "I was very impressed with Alec Fushi. He was very supportive and fun to work with. He was flexible since I don't live in Chicago. He let me keep the cello for a couple of weeks. In fact, he bought a seat on the plane for the cello so I could take it back with me."— Sae Rom Kwon
