A violin by

Nicolò Amati

Cremona, 1666

The teacher of Stradivari and Andrea Guarneri, among others, his name needs no further introduction. The arching of this particular example is flatter than usual for his output. This feature makes for greater power than often is the case with Nicolò's work. Its superb sound is of the most beautiful quality.
