A violin by

Carlo Giuseppe Oddone

Turin, 1909

Oddone is one of the top 20th-century Italian makers. We recently had a later example by this maker which was virtually in new condition. The character of this violin, which has been played over the years, is a beautiful, antiqued look. The one piece back is made of attractive quarter-cut maple with a broad curl descending from right to left. The varnish is a handsome brownish orange-yellow color. Not only is this violin well-suited for a soloist but it also has a lovely fluid quality of sound.
