An outstanding violin by
Giuseppe Guarneri del Gesù
Cremona, c. 1725, "Folinari"
One of the earliest examples of del Gesù's work, this violin possesses good projection and the magnificent tonal qualities that one associates with this legendary master maker. The back is crafted from one piece of quarter-cut maple with medium curl ascending slightly from left to right. The varnish is a lovely golden brown in color. The "Folinari" is in a well-restored state of preservation and is an extraordinary value.
