Takeshi Nogawa

Takeshi Nogawa

Takeshi Nogawa's violin making has been inspired by his twelve years assisting master restorer John Becker on violins by the great Italian makers. "I bring my restoration and adjustment experience to my violin making. The work is constantly evolving. I keep striving to reach an ever higher standard," said Nogawa. He creates violins on a late Guadagnini of Turin pattern. Nogawa's instruments are custom made for each artist, designed especially for their playing styles and tonal preferences. His violins are a deep reddish-brown color and have a bold masculinity which results in a deep, gutsy sound very similar to the late work of Guadagnini. His violin production is limited due to his restoration work. Violins by Nogawa have been acquired by top professionals, including Chicago Symphony Orchestra member Blair Milton and concert violinist and conductor Michel Samson.

"I'm very happy with my Nogawa violin. Takeshi is an outstanding craftsman. The violin sounds like a classic Italian instrument. It sounded great from the very beginning. I use it all the time. It's my primary instrument. I have great choice in what violin I play, but I choose to play the Nogawa exclusively."
